LoFi Beats in the Park - Gospel Chords
Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are -even if it's at the park. Something about the sound of gospel just gets into the soul.

Anita Baker - LATELY
Переглядів 8063 роки тому
If there’s anything I’d like my work to represent, it’s this: it’s never too late to explore your passions and get lost, wrapt up, enamored. To everyone who shows love for all my exploits, I love y’all 🤍🙏🏽 🏽 #AnitaBaker is one of my all time favorite musicians. I reconstructed this song around just her vocals. Logic session at the bottom. In this take I’m playing the piano part, but the rest ...
Field Trip Friday - KARATE

Remember when you were a kid, and looked forward to a good ole Field Trip? Well, I think we need more of that vibe in the world. So we went to a Karate class to study under Jeremy Crook. Hope you enjoy as much as I felt awkward.

In order to better understand James Brown, the origins of Funk, and why it's important today, we have to look at things in context. Without context, music means nothing at all.
James Brown, a Cultural Analysis
Переглядів 7294 роки тому
This man will make your liver quiver. This man will make your bladder splatter. This man will freeze your knees. James Brown is considered a major figure of 20th century music and dance. He is the progenitor of funk. (That means it originates with him.) Just name a funkier person. I’ll wait… By 1972, James Brown was already the Godfather of Soul. But the album that introduced the James Brown fu...
a History of "We Shall Overcome"
Переглядів 126 тис.4 роки тому
We Shall Overcome became the anthem for the Civil Rights Movement, thanks in part to the movement leaders, and thanks in part to artists and folk signers like Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger. But the roots of the song go way back to the Civil War and slavery. Maybe the most poignant thing about the evolution of We Shall Overcome is that there’s been a NEED for it to evolve. From the beginning, black ...

I wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t use the medium I love so much to speak about what is affecting all of us. So, here goes. This year wasn’t supposed to turn out like this. We had high hopes of new beginnings and #2020Vision. And although the past several months have been challenging to say the least, maybe our wish for 2020 vision has come true. We’ve seen the disproportionate health maladies o...

Was beyond inspired by the original piece Keedron Bryant sang, and I wanted to play along. Emotions and tensions are high, but whatever is mentionable is manageable. Many times music helps us discuss difficult emotions and situations. I hope this helps you like it helped me. #GeorgeFloyd #KeedronBryant #BLM #Live

Great parable, enjoyed hearing. (man that room of mirrors is interesting example sort of like group-think / and at same time the power of self-influencing) Thanks!

So easy to understand. I always used the term perspective but never saw the relation between the three.

Thanks for the video! I hear about this song when I was reading the biography of Martin Luther King.Once I finished the book I put this song playing and just give me chills, imaging all the people singing together and fighting for their lives always with peace and hope on their minds. So beautiful.

They are both based on many variables. For each of us together as a group of people some of our perceptions and perspectives are based on the social normalcy of that culture and society. Some of the variables is beliefs and upbringing. Some is life experiences. You can take 2 people. First 1 a combat vet, the 2nd person normal civilian life never heard a gun go off. Say a bank robbery and the robbers was shootung up in the air. Now the vet would be more likely to experience it in a way because of their experiences. The vet could probably tell exactly how many shots, if the ribbers had some military training and assess the situation. Where the civilian would see and experience it differently. They would say rapid gun fire, guess at how many shots fired, most likely avoiding any eye contact for fear. Another thought, is psychology is different from country to country and cultures. Some find certain things acceptable and even expected while another country might view it unacceptable even against the law. Sometimes it is these different views and perspectives and perceptions that causes conflict everywhere in the world.

Great vid. I’ve always thought this track was built from portions of Ask of You by Raphael Saadiq since he and D’Angelo wrote Lady together. It’s genius how there is so little musically but so many sick options built into the voicings.

Absolutely amazing work here!!!! Zilphia Horton has a huge part in both bringing the elements of lyrics and melody together and then carrying it to the people who made history with it. I know she is often left out of this history when it is told. Curious, when so many others are keenly included. The message about music here is powerful -- inclusive, goes everywhere, grows and changes, holds all kinds of meanings as it moves through our lives and social contexts. Absolutely, the best presentation I've seen on We Shall Overcome. Wonderful!!!
